Does it often feel like people just don’t ‘get’ you?
Relationships crumble… “Is it always my fault?”
Others seem to go for what they want… “What’s holding me back from getting what I want?”
Friends and family give advice… “I know they try to help, but it’s never the kind of help I need.”
Perhaps you’ve just gotten out of a bad relationship and need some help recovering – you need an outlet.
You need motivation to achieve that goal you’ve been putting on the backburner.
You need encouragement to overcome that fear or self-doubt.
Individual counseling can meet any of these needs and many, many more.
Individual counseling is for any person who simply needs somebody to talk to, somebody who will honor your words, and who will listen without judgment.
Counseling will give you the opportunity to vent – to vent in confidence and without fear of repercussions. Or you might want to get better at recognizing social cues or understand how to get along with your colleagues at work.
Bloom where you’re planted!
Ever heard that one before?
Well, what if where you’re planted is in soil that’s toxic? Hmmm… that’s a problem, right?
And what if that toxic soil is your own thought life?
For example, you may be so angry with someone or about a situation to the degree that it’s all you think about. The anger fuels every conversation, every experience with a very negative and hot-headed perspective.
Exploring your thoughts and working through them to help you make changes in life is called Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and it can be a very useful tool for figuring out why you do what you do.
Learn how to change your thoughts in a way that produces positive results in your actions!
Generally speaking, you have an experience – that experience causes you to have a thought, from that thought, you derive an emotion about the situation which leads to a behavior.
For example, someone cuts you off in traffic. Your thought is not a good one, but it results in anger. Your behavior is to speed up and let that person know what you think about them.
CBT helps you analyze how your thoughts and beliefs are affecting your emotions, and how you can make changes which also change your behaviors into more rational actions.
There are many ways to get you where you want to be…
There are other very effective research-based therapies as well. There are almost as many therapies and techniques for counseling as there are people populating the planet – but there’s only one YOU.
We will work together to determine what combination of ideas is best for helping you reach the outcomes you desire.
Don’t wait any longer…
Therapy with you as an individual is just that: “you” time. It’s time to think about what you’re thinking about… and how can you work on those thoughts to become a change agent in your own life.
Let me work with you to find areas where you can use your personal strengths and gifts… even the difficulties you’ve survived… to help you become who you were created to be.
